Matt Festa stay with one of his hometown teams was a very brief one.

The 31-year-old righty reliever was designated for assignment on Wednesday to make room for Wednesday night’s starting pitcher, touted rookie Christian Scott.

Festa, a Staten Island native and St. Joseph by-the-Sea HS product, made only one appearance for the Mets — and it was a memorable one, for all the wrong reasons.

This past Sunday against the visiting Astros, the 6-foot-1 Festa entered the contest in the 11th inning of 5-5 tie. When the dust settled, Festa had yielded five runs on a walk and four hits in Houston’s 10-5 win.

Festa, who was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse Saturday night, didn’t appear in either of the first two game at Washington this week — both wins. Then news came that Festa was a DFA casualty in order to make room for Scott, who was spotted a 5-0 lead but surrendered four runs. While the Amazins were still ahead when he left in the sixth inning, the bullpen couldn’t hold it and fell to the Nationals, 7-5.

Festa is a five-year MLB veteran, with his first four seasons spent with the Seattle Mariners.
