Matt Festa is finally going to play a home game. A REAL home game.

The St. Joseph by-the-Sea HS product was called up by the New York Mets on Sunday to bolster a struggling bullpen that couldn’t hold a five-run lead during Saturday’s 9-6 loss to the visiting Houston Astros.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-hander first made it to the Majors in 2018 with the Seattle Mariners, whom he made appearances for in 2018-19 and 2022-23. In four big-league seasons, he’s only allowed 80 hits in 93 2/3 innings, walking 44 and striking out 102.

Festa and pitcher Tyler Jay were promoted from Triple-A Syracuse, while hurlers Tylor Megill and Danny Young — both of whom pitched in Saturday’s setback — were demoted. Megill was given a 6-1 lead before yielding three runs, exiting with the Mets ahead 6-4. Young, meanwhile, gave up a two-run double to Mauricio Dubon in the ninth inning to complete the scoring.

In 27 games combined with the Mariners and with Syracuse this year, Festa is 1-1 with a 3.16 ERA, allowing 29 hits in 31 1/3 innings with 10 walks and 35 strikeouts.

For his career in MLB, Festa is 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA and has two saves (both in 2022).
